NY-13 Candidate Shakes Up the Establishment

Human Events reports:

He’s been a deputy U.S. Marshal, an undercover FBI agent, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and the FBI’s Financial Fraud Squad.

He founded a health food restaurant in New York City and is a principal in a Texas bio-fuel company.

He has a BBA in accountancy with a concentration in finance and a law degree from New York Law School.

And he’s a Republican running for Congress in New York 13th Congressional District as the “People’s Candidate.”

Allegretti’s Ignorance on Display In Medal Flap

Iraq Veterans for Congress Political Action Committee (IVC) today condemned candidate Michael Allegretti’s shameless attempt to smear a decorated Marine Corps veteran in an effort to save his fledgling campaign in New York’s 13th Congressional District.

At issue is a military photo of Allegretti’s Republican primary opponent Michael Grimm a veteran of the Operation Desert Storm. Allegretti claims that Grimm is misleading voters by wearing decorations he doesn’t rate.  Grimm explained that at the time of the photo he rated the medals.

GOP congressional hopeful Michael Grimm accuses rivals of smear campaign

SILive.com reports:

GOP congressional candidate and Marine Gulf War veteran Michael Grimm said that a swiftboat-style "whisper campaign" launched by political opponents looking to undermine his military record caused him to be barred from an American Legion soiree in Brooklyn last week.

An American Legion official apologized for the snub, saying it was against organization policy.

Grimm, a former FBI agent, is battling Michael Allegretti for the GOP nod to take on Rep. Michael McMahon (D-Staten Island/Brooklyn).
